(Book Review) Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas

My copy of Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas arrived this week and I love it! The book provides a detailed look at 14 dessert tables including recipes, craft ideas and styling tips. Throughout the book Amy gives  ways to adapt each of the tables to suit different themes/ colours, as well as lots of tips and styling advice. The book has over 100 recipes for cakes, cookies, pies, brownies, mousse, truffles, popsicles, ice cream bars, and drinks. You also get access to patterns and templates via her website. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in dessert tables and event styling.

Here are some of my favourite Amy Atlas Dessert tables

Blue and silver wedding cake

A gorgeous blue and silver colour scheme was chosen for Megan and Rob's wedding at Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa.  I loved the pretty pale blue and white sugar flowers combined with the silver leaf and silver geometric details on their cake.

Cascading Sugar Roses and Petal Ruffles

Todays Sugar Flower Sunday is all about sugar roses. I love the simplicity and elegance of a wedding cake with only sugar roses. It has a really modern yet timeless look. The sugar roses on this cake were made to match the roses in bride, Beverley's fresh flower bouquet. A gorgeous colour palette of pinks, purples and ivory sugar roses cascaded down the top two tiers of the cake.  The pretty ruffles on the bottom tier were created using one of my favourite techniques- Petal Ruffles. I have a tutorial for this technique in my dove grey wedding cake tutorial in my online shop  here    Don't forget to sign up for out mailing list while you are over there, I'll be sending out some discount codes very soon.  Here is a closer look at the different colours of the sugar roses in some close up shots. Which is your favourite? I loved the deeper pink shade!
