Nude pink wedding cake

A nude pink wedding cake featuring cake lace, petal ruffles and sugar flowers. I made the sugar flowers to tie in with the brides bouquet with quicksand roses, blush lisianthus and greenery including eucalyptus.  Here is the cake all set up at The Grange Hotel, Grange over sands.   I received such a lovely email from the happy couple with some very kind words!

Blue and silver wedding cake

A gorgeous blue and silver colour scheme was chosen for Megan and Rob's wedding at Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa.  I loved the pretty pale blue and white sugar flowers combined with the silver leaf and silver geometric details on their cake.

Amnesia Cascade Wedding Cake

Here is a wedding cake we created last year for a beautiful vintage themed wedding at Storrs Hall. A beautiful 5-tier wedding cake with lace trim and cascading amnesia sugar roses and gypsophila, delivered and set up at Storrs Hall, Winderemere and finished with fresh flowers around the bottom of the cake by Brakens of Bowness.  The flavours included  rich fruit cake,  chocolate orange truffle,  white chocolate and passionfruit,  chocolate  and vanilla. It looked lovely set up in the rotunda at  Storrs  Hall.  Here are the sugar roses in progress, before being dusted to create the beautiful vintage edges that make amnesia roses so popular for vintage themed weddings.  And then after dusting along with the gypsophilla sugar flowers. You can find a tutorial for our sugar roses in our online shop.

Cascading Sugar Roses and Petal Ruffles

Todays Sugar Flower Sunday is all about sugar roses. I love the simplicity and elegance of a wedding cake with only sugar roses. It has a really modern yet timeless look. The sugar roses on this cake were made to match the roses in bride, Beverley's fresh flower bouquet. A gorgeous colour palette of pinks, purples and ivory sugar roses cascaded down the top two tiers of the cake.  The pretty ruffles on the bottom tier were created using one of my favourite techniques- Petal Ruffles. I have a tutorial for this technique in my dove grey wedding cake tutorial in my online shop  here    Don't forget to sign up for out mailing list while you are over there, I'll be sending out some discount codes very soon.  Here is a closer look at the different colours of the sugar roses in some close up shots. Which is your favourite? I loved the deeper pink shade!

How to make Sugar Sequins

Sugar sequins look so pretty on wedding cakes, they add such a lovely delicate sparkle.  I love to use sequins on wedding cakes to embellish sugar lace and to add some extra sparkle to my winter wonderland designs. I'm going to show you how to make sugar sequins using cake lace. In this tutorial I used the sequins cake lace mat and white original cake lace by Claire Bowman.  1. Carefully measure out 50ml of water and pour into a stand mixer. 2. Add four tablespoons of part A powder from the Claire Bowman cake lace set. Mix on high for 2 minutes. 3. Add half a teaspoon of Part B liquid from the Claire Bowman cake lace set. 4. Mix on high for about 5 minutes until the cake lace looks smooth. 5. Pour a small amount of Cake Lace mixture onto the sequin mat and spread out with a knife. 6. Once the sequin mat is completely covered, bake in oven at 70°C - 80°C for 10-15 minutes. 7. Remove the mat f
