My Sister's Wedding Cake

I was very honoured to be asked to make the wedding cake for my sister Carly and my new brother-in-law Mark's wedding. Back in October last year at their engagement party they asked me and I set to work coming up with different design ideas. Carly's dress had beautiful lace detail so she wanted some lace to be incorporated into the cake.
After visiting the florist with them to choose their wedding flowers we also decided to incorporate the wedding flowers into the cake design. The flowers were amnesia roses, avalanche roses, sweet avalanche roses, ocean song roses and freesia.

I also made all the favours for each guest at the wedding. Each guest received a bride or groom cake pop. These were also used as place settings. Each of the name tags had a lilac lace patterned background.

 Congratulations Carly and Mark!

Blue and silver wedding cake

A gorgeous blue and silver colour scheme was chosen for Megan and Rob's wedding at Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa.  I loved the pretty pale blue and white sugar flowers combined with the silver leaf and silver geometric details on their cake.

Cascading Sugar Roses and Petal Ruffles

Todays Sugar Flower Sunday is all about sugar roses. I love the simplicity and elegance of a wedding cake with only sugar roses. It has a really modern yet timeless look. The sugar roses on this cake were made to match the roses in bride, Beverley's fresh flower bouquet. A gorgeous colour palette of pinks, purples and ivory sugar roses cascaded down the top two tiers of the cake.  The pretty ruffles on the bottom tier were created using one of my favourite techniques- Petal Ruffles. I have a tutorial for this technique in my dove grey wedding cake tutorial in my online shop  here    Don't forget to sign up for out mailing list while you are over there, I'll be sending out some discount codes very soon.  Here is a closer look at the different colours of the sugar roses in some close up shots. Which is your favourite? I loved the deeper pink shade!
